Some will be fortunate enough to have tomatoes of all colours this year.

In New Zealand, summer always seems to be a long time coming, and for me it is signified by more than just the arrival (finally) of blue skies – food heralds the change in season too.

First comes asparagus, then tomatoes, followed by sweetcorn and stone fruit.
